Out with the old
I guess it's the same story every New Years Eve when one looks back.
A year I will for several reasons be glad to see the back off BUT a year with several wonderful highlights. Just 10 days ago at the routine quarterly check up at the internal works specialist, I said I was so pleased that I hadn't been in hospital one single time this year.
As I write this, I should be packing a bag and making my way to hospital, unannounced as agreed with the Urology Dept. Straight up to the ward and with luck on the operating table tomorrow. Home maybe 24 hours later. But not even I can face the idea of troubling everybody with such a stupid, minor, unpainful pimple of a problem on such a night and day.
I know though that the sooner the better. Will monitor and if necessary go tomorrow in the hope they at least put me on the operating plan for Tuesday and I can turn up that morning. What a (mental) pain and a great way to start the New Year.
Have cancelled all plans for this evening. Probably be asleep long before midnight. Perhaps unconsciously I have been working on Back Bliping the last few days as if to get in as much before it's too late. What morbid thoughts. Actually most of the memories have been fun recounting.
This morning was wonderfully sunny and oh so warm. I didn't even bother looking but certainly double figures at least out of the breeze that was left over from last nights stormy winds. The snow has completely gone but no flooding which surprises me.
Out for the morning walk passing the farm & house buildings of one of the farmers directly in the village. I have mentioned Josef Müller and his family before, the first people who helped us out when we moved here. A lovely family. I quickly stopped to take a snap of the building works they are doing. There is the new old probably 1950/60s built house on the left being demolished, then an old barn has gone and new concrete foundations are laid. One can see the outline of the old barn on the still standing very big barn. Behind that comes the cow shed and finally the (2000ish?) family house.
Just at that moment Mrs Müller came around the corner back from her dog walk and we ended up chatting for ages. Eventually Josef appeared probably waiting to see where his lunch was keeping! We departed with the traditional New Years wishes. Then I remembered i wanted to ask what buildings were being erected, demolished, moved etc! Next year.
Rest of the day trying to get ready for this evening but then my ailment ended all plans. We have to, or better, we like to always be at home from around 9:00pm when the fireworks start to be shot off by the younger ones who are being forced to bed before midnight.
Sort of depressed but not overly, I still wish all you lovely Blipers a great time where ever you are but more importantly GOOD HEALTH in 2018 and beyond. I wanted to say so much more but don't feel up to it. Did I hear someone say, thank goodness!!
