The start of the British & Irish Cup

Today Newport hosted Connacht Eagles in the first round of the British & Irish cup. After an crap start to the season there wasnt much hope for our team to even compete against the Connacht seconds, but rugby is as odd as the shape of the ball.

Compete we definitely did, just look at this face after we scored our first try. We never did put distance between us, so it was always going to be a tense ending. We led, then we didn't, then we did again. Seconds left, penalty, yellow card against us, they kick to the corner. Lineout, they pressurise our line, its all chaos. We somehow get the ball, we run, from inside our 22 a certain try to end the game on a high. But no, they catch him on the 5yrd line. Im getting too old for this. Awcock holds on and gives a penalty away, no time left but the game goes on. Connacht have a last throw of the dice. the run with the ball, we stop them and give yet another penalty away. We are trying hard to give them every opportunity to win. Eventually they fumble and give a penalty away, we kick it far into the crowd, game over.
