Not Just a Hammer
Finally finished the coopering plane, though it seems to need a lot of force to operate. I'll have to consult the instructor who taught the class where I made it. But it works, as you can see from the piece of wood it's sitting on.
The little brass hammer? That's the adjustment tool for setting the depth of cut. It's going to take some time to get really proficient using it. This particular hammer originally belonged to Artist Annie's late husband, Arvin. When I gave it a polish, I found his initials stamped on the head. I will be reminded of him each time I use it.
