Who Knew...
...that egrets ate mice? We stood an watched as this one stalked it's prey through the grass, waggling its neck as it poised to strike. It struck definitively and came up with a mouse, when we were expecting a frog. The mouse was soon dispatched, still wiggling as the egret stretched out its neck to ease its passage.
Tim has arrived, heavily bandaged hand, what appears to be a hole in his ear, scraped knuckles but cheerful nonetheless. He has promised me that he will get a bike helmet and wear it next time he gets on his bike...in the meantime, he doesn't seem to be using his left hand much. He did have an x-ray and it's isn't broken but is obviously sprained. Too bad he's left handed.
Dana arrived in a foul mood because she had dropped her phone and broken it (explaining why she hadn't answered any of our texts), gone to the Apple Store, been told that her phone 'would never turn on again', bought a new one for $700 gotten it home, and it wouldn't work. She stormed over to our house because we still have a land line, called Will, who is in Cincinnati with Jim visiting his other grandmother and yelled at him. (While she was trying to get her phone working, Blake ate her brand new phone cover. That did nothing to improve her mood.) In her defense, I would have been equally pissed off. With the aid of my phone and another phone call to Will she was able to fix the phone and came back in a much better mood. We are now having a nice family glass of wine together....
