Frozen Bubble Fail

I have been wanting to photograph a frozen bubble for ages and now with our very low temperatures, I thought I would give it a try.  I have seen such beautiful frozen bubbles here on blip and I had visions of achieving something just like that.  Most of my bubbles popped before they froze, however.  And when they started to freeze they seemed to lose their shape as you can see here.  I managed to capture this one as it was starting to freeze and starting to pop, hence the big hole in the middle.  My attempts were limited because it was just too darn cold!

My problem could be that I am using a kids' bubble solution, the kind you can purchase at the Dollar Store.  Next time,  I think I will need to make my own bubble solution.  With a little help from Google, I found a recipe and apparently the addition of glycerine makes the walls a little thicker.  If any of you have ever tried photographing frozen bubbles and can offer me some advice, it would be most welcome.
