Simplicity

I don't know anything of the history of this beautiful building but it is now a home.  I love its simplicity and symmetry.

When Andy left the house at 7:00 this morning it was snowing hard, the road completely covered.  This was unexpected .  Regardless, he got Alexander to the train station on time for his trip to Scotland, only to hear from Alexander 20 minutes later to discover his train was stopped as the line was blocked by two fallen trees near to Petersfield.  We had the added difficulty of having no water at home as on Boxing Day afternoon we discovered a leak in a water pipe not far from the mains tap, so we were also chasing an emergency plumber.

In the end all worked out well.  A plumber came and fixed the leak by 9:30am and Alexander eventually got to Scotland to meet up with his friends.  Highlights of the day (other than that) were seeing a sparrowhawk on the oak tree at the end of the garden and a marsh tit or willow tit on our bird feeder (the two species are virtually impossible to tell apart unless you can hear their song).
