WideAngle Wednesday: Diverted Route...
Today we drove from Newcastle to Macclesfield to take Mum-in-Law back to her care home after her stay with us over Christmas.
Having checked the traffic report before setting off we managed to avoid a delay on the A19 resulting from an accident. However we almost ran into what sounds like it could have been a 2-hour delay on the A1M north of Boroughbridge - but happily we were able to turn off the motorway just as the tailback was beginning. Our new route took us round Ripon and Harrogate and past Skipton to the M66 and then the M60 round Manchester.
This had 2 advantages. Firstly, instead of having to partake of the fodder provided at motorway services we spotted a lovely country pub serving a delicious fish pie. Secondly, I was able to capture this rather nice view near Skipton for today's WideAngle Wednesday blip. I used the Olympus fisheye lens for it as you can probably tell.
It should fit the bill for Bobsblips's DecembeR WidWed challenge, as it was taken on our Diverted Route, thereby matching the first and last letters of the month. It also looks pretty wintry as Bob requested for today - the trees are completely bare, the clear sky resulted in a very cold day, and as you can see the sun was already low in the sky by 2.26pm when the photo was taken.
