No Loitering

At this resolution and depth of field you may not be able to see that among the list of things you cannot do here is loiter.
Surely, waiting for your wash to cook could be perceived as loitering?

I fully intended to do a late entry today, photographing tonight's Italian feast, course by course, and making a mosaic of food shots.

Then I noticed this launderette that I have walked past hundreds of times. I haven't been in one since getting a washing machine in 1980 (is that the defining moment of adulthood?).

With its semi-concealed lighting and complementary colour scheme, someone has actually thought about making it a pleasant environment. Of course, the noise, smell and heat still make pleasant a relative term, and having no seats at all must make it difficult to loiter. Perhaps that is a marketing plan to boost the sales of service-washes?
Service wash. Maybe that's the defining moment of adulthood? Although walking the streets with a ropey bin-bag full of your clothes is hardly grown-up. I guess it must be easier now that chekky and Ikea bags are so big.

Sorry, getting a little Proustian. C disagrees and says that the smell is up there with cheese.

As for the feast composite, maybe this will all become irrelevant, as if it wasn't already..
