Thousands Of Little Weapons
Yesterday's strong winds brought down thousands of these empty seed-cases from the Liquid Amber Trees (aka Sweet Gum, botanical name Liquidambar styraciflua) in the little park in Maleny alongside the Obi Obi River. Oddly, the seed cases stay dangling from the branches for months after the seeds have dispersed - unless really wild weather gets involved.
I like seeds in general and these in particular - I think they look like miniature weapons - those spiky maces from Medieval times.
