Finished (Day 960)

No rabbits were seen on chased on a the slightly drizzly morning wander up the hill this morning.
Back at home there was time for a quick cuppa with my  beautiful wife before she zoomed off to work, and I headed to the shed to carry on carving. I could have fiddled around for ages, but the carving has taken its toll on me and my hands and arms just couldn't take any more. There are a few tool marks which I could have taken out, but they add character and they say that it was carved by hand rather than blasted out with a machine. I washed the stone and dried it off, took a few shots with my mobile and left the stone sitting on the bench.
The dogs and I had a wander at Wasdale, where there was hardly a breath of wind, and the rain had stopped, making for a really pleasant walk.
I returned home to a few things to deal with before HV arrived home and we began the task of hoisting the stone off the bench, and wrestling it into the van before delivering it to the customer. We unloaded it without incident and the customer can't wait to show it to her partner tomorrow. It makes quite a big Christmas present!
I am really pleased with this stone. Raised on its end, it is as tall as I am. It is very heavy and has a lovely natural surface. I look forward to seeing it when I drive past.
