Hilary Young at the Century Theatre

Wonderful evening spent in Coalsville with Hilary Young who was reminiscing about his time as manager with the Century Theatre.
I could go on and on and try to explain what the theatre was.
But in a nutshell it was a traveling theatre with a circus vibe with wagons that converted into a theatre along with sleeping and eating cars.
It's quite fabulous and you must visit Snibston Discovery Park in Leicestershire where it's based to see performances it's performance alongside other wonderful things like the biggest fashion museum outside of london, old mine workings, train carriages, etc. etc.

Here's a bit of a whole lot more about the theatre.
Where luminaries such as Tom Courtnenay trod its boards.

The unique touring venue of Century Theatre first toured to Keswick in 1961, kindling the idea of a permanent theatre in the Lake District.
When changes to the Road Traffic Act brought Century Theatre touring to an end, the Blue Box then served as a venue for a Summer Season of professional repertory theatre in Keswick for the next 20 years.
The refurbished Blue Box is now at Snibston Discovery Park in Leicestershire where it serves as a community theatre and as a tribute to an extraordinary touring theatre enterprise which inspired many towns and cities around the country to create permanent theatres during nearly 25 years on the road.
