We had an all college staff development day to lead us into the October week today. The staff from all four campuses were at events all over the whole college although I was based at Granton for the day. When I headed into town afterwards I discovered I only had 2% left in my camera battery so I only had a chance to rattle off a couple of street shots the most of which were rubbish. This was about the only passable one.

While I was in town I had to go and get a phone upgrade for Roz. When I got her phone contract two years ago we got a laptop with it so her monthly contract was £41 a month and she doesn't need anywhere near that.

We looked at the orange website this morning to see what they were offering her and, despite the fact that new customers could get a Galaxy S2 for £31 a month with the phone being free, for Roz to upgrade to an S2 on her contract they wanted to charge us £20 for the phone!!!

I was going to go in and rant at the Orange store about it and had a look at prices on the Carphone Warehouse page to compare when I noticed that tehy did upgrades too and were offering better deals than Orange; £26 a month for an S2 or £31 a month for a galaxy note.

By the time I got into town the first shop I came across was Phones4U. I decided to check if they did similar and after checking things they were able to give me a free Galaxy note for £26 a month. That wasn't all though as they made a slight error at first so threw in a samsung flip cover for it. That wasn't all though, as the guy was going through the details he realised he could give me a £50 trade in on Roz's old phone. Given that her old phone was a £15 one she bought to replace a broken one that was a fantastic deal! So I left with a great new phone, a flip cover and £50 in my pocket while knowing I'll be saving £15 a month for the next two years.

MAddy is due an upgrade in a couple of months. Guess where I'll be going for that?
