dragonfly...
...ornament
simplicity itself - yet beautifully complicated at the same time
several years ago - i stumbled across this ornament in a little shop - and couldn't believe my good fortune - for some time, i had been taken with collecting - an ornament or 2 every year - for the tree in order to build enough to actually - fill an entire tree - it really takes a lot of ornaments to make a christmas tree - look really good
anyway i'd been on this mission and finding ornaments was an enjoyable task - i liked going on the hunt for the unusual ones - not your average, every day kind - so when i laid eyes on this one - the combination of poinsettia flowers plus dragonflies - i was overjoyed - i mean both the colors as well as the fact that i adore dragonflies - sent it over the top for 'must haves' - how often have you seen dragons on christmas ornaments? - i'm just asking, but will assume it's fairly rare
every year when i unwrap this beauty from its tissue paper - i find myself having the same reaction - even though i've seen it now well over 10 years - i 'oooh' then 'ahhhh' then hold it up to the light - turning it this way and that - i find myself telling miss mollie-boo the story behind it - my voice catching in the telling, even to a cat - it's the simplest things which can move us - at the holidays sometimes, yes, even in the form of an ornament - and that might be all it takes to lead you to...
a
happy day.....
