Panel 38 - Border Reivers and Kinmont Willie

Here's Derek, a bit outnumbered by the 11 women in the Smailholm group, stitching Kinmont Willie's waistcoat or jack, as the Border Reivers called it. Derek is a whizz at cross stitch. Just after his retirement, and looking for a new hobby, he saw a very senior politician cross stitching on a train, and thought "I could do that". He certainly could, he has created some wonderful pieces. Embroidery is new to him, but his standards are high and it's already obvious that he's going to produce a lovely piece of work.
