Trying not to get Lost

Following on from the question of what one can tell from someone's bookshelves (see yesterday), I wondered what else one tell from seeing their map cupboard?

I started to ponder this in response to the rather scary story on the BBC website about the disappearance of 'real maps'. It might be too late for my map collection to prevent my brain shrinking, but I've got no intention of stopping acquiring more proper folding maps.

A guide book is usually the first thing I buy for any new destination, but a map is almost always the next item on the shopping list.
