Eagle Watching on the Skagit River
Today we celebrated Steve's birthday by doing an eagle watch trip on the Skagit River. Nora set up the whole thing and six of us met at Howard Miller Steelhead Park where we met a bus that took us up to Marblemount. It brought behind it an aluminum boat with room for us all and Scott, the guide. The boat had swivel seats with backs and heaters for each passenger. That was a big improvement over the rafts we'd traveled on before. We floated from Marblemount down the Skagit River to the park. It took three hours and we had a great time. The day was overcast but not rainy. The eagles were mostly in the trees and there were less than we expected. But we didn't mind. It was a lovely trip. You can see more photos of the river and birds here.
When we got back to the park, we traveled to the Rhody restaurant in Bow and had a yummy dinner together. Kai came and met us there so now we were seven: Dave, Nora, Steve, Kai, me, JB and Bev, friends of Dave and Nora's. I had bet JB but not Bev and it was delightful to get to know them both.
When I got home I was ready for some quiet time, so I spent an hour or so going through my photos. A very nice day indeed.
