Alek, meat trader, Brixton

Today's early start at the dentist at the Oval leads me to revisit Brixton.

I lived on the outskirts when I first came to London in the eighties.

Today, although there are some chain shops and the tube station has been revamped, the vibe is pretty much the same. Melodic soul and reggae is still pumping unashamedly out of street loud speakers and the market shops on Electric Avenue still heave with all manner of fish and meat cuts.

I decided to walk around inconspicuously with a small lens, hoping to look harmless. This worked and Alek invited me to take his photograph.

Afterwards I went down to Woolwich to see Laura.
