Bye bye alders
Day three in the tree felling room. G made short work of these two alders that were two close to the house and adding weight to a precarious piece of ground.
We drove home having shut the house up for Christmas after a good visit from builders, GL and R, engineer MM, and heating engineer SC.
We are now looking at the possibility of installing a dual wood pellet and wood furnace for heating and hot water. Local wood works out about half the price of pellets per unit of heat produced but pellets give versatility when we are not there to feed the beast.
And of course we now have a fair bit of wood. It will all be connected to a heat sump - hilariously known in Italy as 'il puffer' - pronounced poo-ferrr - into which hot water solar panels can be connected.
I've scrambled back to delete previous extras so I could include two here. One of G up a tree and one of the last sun on Monte Falterone and the alder fire pit in the old pond hole. It had to be useful for something, eh?
That is the end of Phase 1, I guess. When we return we hope to get on with a new roof over the old beams and boards. Couldn't have hoped for more, really.
