Diary of an Edinburgher

More camera kit

I've been very inspired by the wonderful long exposure shots of rivers and seas and clouds. I've been looking at a few 'how to' videos, and this morning I decided to go and buy the necessary goods. It was a way to tempt myself out, as it was a bit dreich this morning.

Lazy me: 'I think I'll stay in bed and watch TV on my ipad, it's too dreich to bother going out.'
Not-so-lazy-me: 'No - I've got a better idea. Why don't we go to the camera shop and spend some money!'
Lazy me: (quick as a flash) 'Let's go!'

The necessary filter and remote purchased (this blipping is turning out to be an expensive business) a bus that took me all the way to the £1 shop happened to arrive at the bus stop as I was passing. I love it when the bus arrives at the same time as I do, even if I hadn't intended going on it, it's always very tempting. And I hadn't intended going that way, but I can change plans just like that.

Had a good look round the £1 shop, but no water sprayer. I shall just clean the shower very very thoroughly and use up the shower spray quickly, and then I'll have my own free flower mister. Almost ready for wet petal shots in the winter.

On the way home I stood for ages and watched the gulls in the big (temporary) ponds in the Meadows. I've seen some brilliant gull shots, but I really need to attract them towards me. With bread, say. Or chips, I believe they are particularly fond of. But I won't share my chips with anyone.

It took me ages walking up the road, because I had my macro lens with me. I must look a bit suspicious poking around hedges and fences and people's gates. Everything was suitably dew-dropped, but I had to wait sometimes till the inevitable breeze died down. I picked this perfect wee blushing rose bud to blip today.

Had a coffee this morning and it was fine. Not, note, the pleasurable experience of yore, though. But improving. It's like trying to smoke when you don't really like it, but persevering because everyone else smokes, and they look cool. I did try smoking when I was younger, but sensibly didn't persevere.

But I shall persevere with coffee. After all, I have a new coffee machine!! Luckily, though, I still have my addiction to chocolate. Phew!
