Pink...and gold
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Daff has suggested that we all blip something pink to try and raise awareness. There are a few pink flowers left in the garden, though this sun-rose, with its crown of golden anthers, is perhaps the brightest.
My Mum lived with breast cancer for fifteen years, and I was very involved in supporting her through various treatments. Throughout the process she remained remarkably optimistic, supported by some wonderful nurses and doctors, and the experience of living with cancer so closely made me a lot stronger and less fearful. Prevention is undoubtedly better than cure, so anything which raises awareness has to be a good thing.
