Dry Yucca
It's actually called a Red Yucca (online photos), which oddly isn't a member of the yucca family. Rose-coral, bell-like flowers appear in early summer. The hummingbirds love them. As the flowers fade, seed pods grow. They start out green; however, it doesn't take long for them to blacken. The stalks are very dry and brittle now. I leave them until mid-January because hummers and Verdin perch on them.
Busy day today. The highlight was ordering (and paying for) a new dishwasher, refrigerator, range and microwave. Tomorrow morning, Arizona Tile is coming to make a template for the counter tops. Wednesday, I have to go to them and select my granite slabs. Everything is now set to be complete in the kitchen on 10 January 2018. Hard to believe this process will have taken 3-1/2 months.
