Pohutakawa

It is a hardy coastal tree known as the New Zealand Christmas tree,  as it is at this time of year it flowers profusely. I nearly missed it too. With the very warm dry weather we have had, the pohutakawa flowered early this year and by the time I got to it with the camera, it was nearly all over.

Tomorrow I fly North to spent a week with family over Christmas. I am not sure about the opportunities for blipping or commenting - I will take that as it comes.
