gold and blue

This tree is quite striking at present especially on a day with blue skies like today. it is apparently a conifer and looks like a larch, but I did not think the American larch would grow as far south as this. This tree is, however, a cultivar and that may explain its presence. Further reading required!!!
I have to thank everybody for stars and hearts for the woodpecker and for all the kind thoughts about yesterday's event! 
And I have just heard about the Amtrack derailment in Washington State. This a horrendous accident and our hearts go out to the people of Washington and Oregon and all Blippers in that region.
