Arachnid alert!
I came across this harmless huntsman spider while doing a spot of gardening today. It was very tolerant of me sticking my camera lens right up to within 1cm of it (as close as my camera can focus). If you want to see it in it's entirety, it is here in my blip folio, in mono.
Huntsman are prolific in Australia and can grow very large, though this one was only about 2 inches across, so quite small. They can jump and move very fast... they can apparently give a painful, but non-lethal, bite.
Big spider fangs for the brave!
