Make Mine a Double!
I must’ve known Andrew for a decade or so now.
We spent the first half of that time as colleagues, sitting across a desk from each other putting the world to rights – or, at least, trying to administer a few strategically placed sticking plasters to it!
More recently we’ve worked for different organisations which still have very close ties – both professionally and geographically. In fact, our offices are on opposite sides of the same corridor! So we still see each other all the time on the stairs or in the kitchen, if not at meetings or events. And we still have lots of reasons to have lunch together on a regular basis.
But not for much longer!
Andrew has just got a new job as Equality and Inclusion Lead at the Walton Centre, the NHS’s only specialist neurology/neurosciences hospital (and somewhere which I know is particularly special to at least one blipper - www.blipfoto.com/Annie ).
So we went out for one final lunch today before he takes up his new post next month.
I wanted to experiment on him by trying out a double exposure – and he was a very good sport about it! He may look very serious here (as directed!) but don’t let that fool you - he’s an absolute sweetheart! Not only a snappy dresser but also a philosopher, strategic-thinker, activist, skateboarder and Salsa dancer extraordinaire! To list just some of the many strings to his bow.
I know he’s going to do brilliantly in his new job – it’s the ideal post for him. But I’m going to miss having him around the place - although I know we’ll still continue to meet up whenever we get the chance, and that our working lives will still intersect in one way or another.
This one’s for him… www.youtube.com/watch?v=ViHx-1QVBdE
