Santa Claus is coming to town

Sunday 17th December 2017 (1940)

I went out with Santa this afternoon. He was travelling round the local streets spreading Christmas cheer. The Scouts were helping him. It was lovely to see the faces of some of the children we met. 

This evening we had our carol service and the choir did an excellent job. With a fairly full church it was a lovely evening. I joined the choir for their Christmas party in the hall afterwards, with a buffet supper. That's three Sundays in a row we've finished with a meal, I am really getting used to this! There was a little bit of entertainment as a couple of people did a turn, including myself. It was dropped on me at the last minute when I was presented with a script for a monologue I did a couple of years ago and asked to do it again. It would have helped if I'd had chance to read it once before doing it!
