One Drummer Drumming
Dull, cold and misty this morning early but I was excited as I heard the call of and then saw a great spotted woodpecker. I located it again, this time in a dead tree and it was drumming! They don't usually start drumming until January. I was quite a way away and the light was poor. My pic is rubbish, the bird is dropping out of the bottom corner of the frame and I've cut its wing tip off but I love its spotty underwings. :) Spring can't be far away.
Today's poem is Things by Fleur Adcock. http://www.scottishpoetrylibrary.org.uk/poetry/poems/things
It feels like the middle of the night if one wakes at 5:00am in winter. Worries do seem worse at that ungodly hour.
