Little jewell

I think that if Faberge were to be alive and well and living in Adelaide, he might feel moved to make a jeweled brooch inspired by this parasitic wasp (Cuckoo wasp: Chrysis spp.).

This is a not very good photo of a wonderful and very tiny wasp.  They move with the speed of light and don't settle for more than a few seconds.  It's my ambition to get a really good image one day.

In the meantime we are stuck with this one, which is at least better than the one I took last year.

They predate on other wasps, and I am wondering if they target paper wasps.
