My Dad Turns Ninety
90 years ago, somewhere in the foothills of Missouri, James Joseph was born to Epps and Lena Welker. He was one of 7 children, and he is the last sibling left.
We had 19 of us for supper at a local steakhouse. Kids, grandkids, and 1 great-grandkid. The group of us gave him ninety 1-dollar bills, and a wool vest that he has wanted (and wouldn't buy).
Sometimes, you wish that things could be different. I wish that those who have passed, and those that don't live in the area could have been there tonight...but sometimes you have to accept the way life is presented to you and your family.
He's been a good dad, and I'm awfully proud of him.
