A Tiny, Little, Man

It's Alan's birthday today, and he took the day off work so we decided to go to Chichester for the day, on the train.  Charlotte picked the boys up and took them to her house as we'd booked them in for grooming, and she said they could stay with her and she'd drop them back this afternoon, so it meant we didn't have to worry about what time we got home.

Things didn't go quite to plan though - we got to Hove station and bought our tickets, and literally about 5 minutes before the train was due, there was an announcement that there had been a power failure and therefore the train would terminate at Littlehampton.  They said that there would be buses waiting to take people to another station where we would then be able to get a train to Chichester, however when we got to Littlehampton there were no buses, apparently the bus company had let them down.   So we were stuck, and decided to get back on the train and head back to Hove.

Luckily we'd left home early, so despite having spent one and a half hours on trains, we got back at 11.30am and still had the day ahead of us.  We walked into Hove and went for lunch at a lovely French restaurant that we've been do before, then I suggested that we go on the i360 as it was a lovely clear afternoon and Alan's never been on it before. We went on the 3pm flight and the light was perfect with the sun just starting to go down.  When we came back down, Alan decided to sit on this deckchair in the sun ;-)

We had a look at the shops built into the arches and Alan saw a hat that he really liked so I bought it for him as an extra birthday present, and I also bought myself a new bobble hat which is made out of a blend with cashmere, so it's very warm.

Finally, on the way back to the car, we called into Patisserie Valerie for a drink and some macarons.  So despite the disappointing start to the day, we've had a lovely day and Alan's had a nice birthday, and it's not over yet - the Palace is currently warming up and the fizz is on chill.

Anyway, I'd better go and see to the birthday boy, and I'll catch up with you over the weekend - have a good one!
