Ixtapa Bikepath

I have become accustomed to a certain amount of primitiveness living as I do in a less famous beach community. There are times, however, when the government puts it all together and creates something nice. Such is the case with the cyclopista in Ixtapa. Fonatur, the Mexican development agency that brought the world Cancún, built this 10 km cycle path years ago and has managed to maintain it to near perfection ever since. Up until today, I had not ridden it, but with my good friend from Washington on a rental bike we followed its path from Ixtapa proper to its terminus at Playa Linda. Lots of shade, despite the impression given in this photo, made for a pleasant ride in the late morning.
