Now the Christmas tree shelters birds from the harsh winter frosts and snow yet not so long ago before it grew too tall it was adorned with glittering ornaments when each year it was brought in to sit beside the roaring fire so reminding my father of walks in the woods near his childhood home.  It will convey no fond memories to the new owners when the house is sold.
