Palm Oasis - Cottonwood spring

Hi.

This photo was taken on day two of a visit to Joshua Tree National Park with friends. A three-and-a-half-mile hike from this location leads to another palm oasis hidden in a canyon in the desert. Spectacular! I enjoyed the walk. The landscape changed along the path with rolling hills followed by rock formations and canyons and finally leading to a spectacular palm oasis. We were there with friends and the hike allowed for both periods of personal reflection and periods of sharing with our friends and fellow hikers. We had a small snack at the oasis before heading back before sunset. Sadly, although we were looking out for them, the desert tortoises managed to avoid our path :-(. We'll have to come back!
