Herd of Curlew
Yes, that is the correct collective for these rather attractive shore and moor-land birds.
The weather report advised that is should be dry early and turn wet later in the day so off we trotted after breakfast on our daily blip-hunt. We saw geese which were too far away and a big grey Hercules transport plane which was flying just below the cloud base and was not easy to spot. At last, down along the Forth, I spotted a whole herd of these big birdies. They seemed to be having some sort of pow-wow or were possibly just comparing beak lengths!
