Soon we’ll be off to the lake and I’m hopeful that the usual cooler temps of the volcanic plateau will favour us. This is how Dr D’s great grandfather Charles Blomfield painted the cauldron on the White Terrace over a hundred and thirty years ago before they were destroyed in the eruption of Mt Tarawera in 1886.
