Over recent years I've watched with disapproval as various big names arrived in Glossop. I tutted at Costa, shook my head at Carpet Right and scowled at Pets at Home.

But today friends, I left my values in bed and threw myself into the grand opening of M&S Simply Food with wild abandon. It was more than a little ridiculous - a ribbon to cut, pre-recorded countdown and oodles of champers. Said champers caused more than a little stumbling around the aisles by the many pensioners who'd turned out. How I loved it. Might go back for more champers after lunch.
