International Day Of The Girl

I am preparing a chicken casserole listening to Women's Hour. The mushrooms have been packed in a pink plastic container - frivolous but poignant.
Jenny Murray is talking about International Day Of The Girl today. I am feeling so grateful that I have enjoyed a privileged life of education, freedom of choice and an open book to fill with what I choose every day of my life without feeling threatened in any way.
How is it that in this day and age girls in many countries are still so controlled and prevented from fulfilling their terrific potential?. It makes me angry and fearful for every one of them. May each and every one of them gain the right to an education and freedom to live their lives how they choose, in safety and with full support of their family and country.
