The complaint letter to Eurotunnel has already been sent! While driving towards the tunnel I received a text saying that there were six hour delays. They were encouraging people to rebook or cancel so I did just that and made a last minute booking on the ferry at extra cost. When I arrived at the car ferry an updated text said that in fact the problem was just for lorries and coaches and there was little delay for cars. Thanks very much! I look forward to Eurotunnel offering me a complimentary crossing for my next visit!
