Surprise Find

When I was out in the garden this evening doing some watering I almost trod on a little blue egg (15 mm long) lying on the grass.  I photographed it next to a hen's egg to show the difference in size. Tomorrow I will have a look in my bird bible Julian Fitter's 'Birds of New Zealand' and try to identify it.  The nesting season is almost over.
