Paper Money for burning

This is burning money. There are certain times during the year the Chinese peopel will light a fire on the street corner using these kinds of papers. People making a circle with alcohol and put the paper 'money' in the centre. The paper is then burned. The paper represents money which is burned for the ancestors of the family so they will have money to spend in the afterlife. It is burned at the intersection of two streets as it is thought there is a better chance for the ancestors to pass by an intersection.

I think it is a wonderful custom.. A perfect (and traditional) way to remember loved ones that have passed on. I have often wanted to take a picture of people at their fires but have always felt that I would be intruding to waltz up and take pics of people remembering (maybe sadly) those who have gone before.. Maybe with the new camera and the ability to take flashless night pics and the big lens, I may be able to share this with blippers.. I think it is just such a wonderful thing and have always wanted to share it.
