Accentuate the negative, eliminate the positive.

Opposite way around to the song, I know.  In the days when I had my own darkroom it all started with the negative.  Well, actually, it didn't. First of all you had to open the film canister, wind the film onto a spool and fiddle it inside a lightproof tub (all in total darkness) before adding chemicals.  You could, alternatively, perform this operation inside a sealed glove like thing, but your hands got so hot and sweaty that everything slipped about uncontrollably. From this process you would eventually get a negative.  Anyway, I often preferred the look of the negative to the ensuing positive prints. These are the baubles left over from decorating the Christmas tree and I prefer them in the negative.  Relating this to my day? Well I spent most of it writing up the panel discussion from last week's Perth event.  But I got much more done than I thought I would.  To celebrate I made a chicken forestiere, served with a nice sauvignon blanc.  So, a positive day represented by a negative Blip.
