Getting ready

The snow is still thick on the ground outside and we have decorated the Christmas tree today!

I love our sitting room; it is a retreat with no TV, but we can listen to music. This is one of the places I like to read and I like it especially at this time of the year! We read Tom Hanks' book 'Uncommon Type' in book group this month and I am about half-way through. It is a lovely gentle read and some of the stories are beautifully old-fashioned, so it is just right for a winter's night by the fire.

We are heading out for dinner at a friend's house this evening - I'll be sorry to switch the lovely tree lights off...
