Mayfly
There are about 40 different endemic mayflies in New Zealand. I don’t know which this one is, but it’s the only one I see in my garden. They often settle on my washing, as this one has done. Mayflies have two pairs of wings. The rear ones are much smaller than the front ones. The small translucent wing can be see dipping over the abdomen.
Although the middle of the day was hot and sunny, early morning and late afternoon were overcast and relatively cool. I was able to get a lot of work done in the garden. Still, it’s never enough.
