A Gothic Vision

As I was renewing my bus pass this morning I noticed this for the first time,the spire of St Giles through the arch of the Scott Monument..

I presume the architect had designed it so the line of sight was retained but how happy would he have been to know that his work still had the power to surprise . An untrained untrained man he won the competition to design the monument but died in mysterious circumstances.

Well that's what LLB said and she should know, she did some restoration work on it....in a previous life.
