Edinburgh's War: recollections of WW1
The mezzanine of the Edinburgh Room in the Central Library has been turned into a World War I History Hub, complete with sandbags and barbed wire on the windows, as Edinburgh's War launched today. Edinburgh City Libraries have worked with the University of Edinburgh on this project, creating a space for folk to learn how World War I affected our city and its people, and to share their own stories too.
Over the next couple of months there will be a series of talks on different aspects of the war, from how to research your World War I ancestors; to the medical and nursing management of war casualties. You can find full details here.
Look at that light, streaming in.
