Gale battered Borage!
What a night! Gale kept me awake most of the time - result: slept 'til late! When I woke up and looked out the window the scene in the garden was chaotic. All my ferns had been battered flat, a glass pane was smashed and some of the smithereens missing - probably ended up miles away:) To cap it all two of my garden waste containers had ended up in the pond!! But my resilient Borage plant survived the best, and here's my blip to prove it. I've faffed with it a bit to show up the flowers better - it was still a little windy, but I set the camera on Sports mode and it seems to have captured it reasonably well. I last blipped this plant in November see HERE! so you can see how well it is doing. I think the reason it survived the gale is that the stems bend unbroken with the wind and can rise back up, whereas the ferns break and can't rise again:) If you look at the pot that the Borage grows from you will see that the Parsley, Chives and Wild Rocket that grows there too, have all died off - so even more reason to wonder at the survival of the Borage:)
