Hand-Carved Swan

In 1989, I gave a presentation to guild of artisans in the Western North Carolina mountains.  The leader of the group gave me this carved swan as a gift for making the presentation.  It is carved from one piece of wood.  I contacted the artist some years later.  His initials on the bottom are DDD.  He told me he no longer did any carving since his arthritis had taken over.  It is a personal treasure and sits on top of a small bookcase.
