My doorstep - explanation below

So why did I photograph my doorstep today? I was struggling for ideas for today's image, and decided I would go to the zoo after attending the regular weekly lap-walking group in the local park. However, during the walk I was asked by a fellow-walker if she could look at the porch and step, as her house is the same design, but the step has been modified, and she wants to restore it to the original condition. I of course offered to provide a photograph, and then realised it solved my problem of what to shoot today. Not an inspiring subject, and a lengthy explanation! Incidentally, it is not usually that clean, but I scrubbed it especially for the photograph, and also polished the hall floor.
