In My World

Lonesome baby

I decided to go for a hat trick today with another bird photo, making it three days in a row!

Today was actually a very busy day, with little time for taking photos, although I did notice one of the baby Magpies this morning, sitting on the wall beside the driveway.

When I went up to say hello, he became a bit nervous and flew up into the branches on the nearest tree. When I say he flew, it's more "flap and hope for the best" at this tender age, but he manages to stay airborn long enough to land on a low tree branch.

One of the adults came to the garden for breakfast this morning, but neither of the adults or his one sibling were anywhere to be seen when I took this photo.

Magpies are nowhere near as photogenic as the kookaburras, nor laugh at their own jokes as the kookaburras do, but they do sing a pretty warbling song if you ask them nicely and their personlities are just as appealing.
