The Long Way Home

We had a nice outing at the state park just north of town--it was a summer day in December and we were shedding layers as we walked along the cliffs with an unobstructed view of the ocean. Cormorants, gulls, pelicans and seals provided the entertainment. These tracks used to run out to the cement plant, but it's been closed for many years now.

Came home to bake gingersnaps with my granddaughter, day two of our cookie project, but they were a dismal failure! I've made the recipe many times, and I can't figure out what went wrong--the cookies are flat and gooey, no satisfying snap at all. Kind of like eating raw cookie dough. Yesterday's biscotti were winners though, so we're one/one.
